This is the official Hasbro Nerf Fortnite SP-L, made under licence from Epic Games and carried in the box it left the factory in — item code E7063 on the front. It is a copy of the suppressed pistol from the game, right down to the joke: run your thumb over the olive-brown slide plate and you will find the word SHHHH moulded into it, which is the detail Fortnite players notice first and the reason this particular blaster gets asked for by name.

The yellow shell with its olive grip and orange muzzle rim is unmistakably Nerf rather than a lookalike, and the sighting block on top is moulded as part of the body. In the hand it is a one-handed blaster, chunky enough for an adult grip but light enough that an eight-year-old can hold it level and prime it without help.

The barrel is the trick. It twists off the front, and the blaster works either way: full length for the silenced-pistol look from the game, or stripped short when the play moves indoors, into a corridor or behind furniture where a long barrel just catches on things. Nothing is lost by taking it off, and it clips back in a second.

Six genuine Nerf Elite darts come in the box. The internal clip holds three at a time, so three shots are loaded and fired before reloading — which is the pace the SP-L is designed around, aimed single shots rather than a spray. Elite darts are the standard blue Nerf dart, so refills and spares from any other Elite blaster in the house will drop straight in.

The box carries an age mark of 8 and over. That is Hasbro's own mark, not our estimate, and it is a fair one — this is a straightforward prime-and-fire blaster with no batteries, no charging, and nothing to assemble beyond pushing the barrel on.
