The shell is moulded into a single-seater with a raised nose cone, a bright red engine cover standing up behind the cockpit, exposed suspension arms sculpted into the sides and four black tyres — with white bodywork, yellow and orange flame graphics down the flanks and a number 95 roundel at the tail.
Open it and it justifies the money. The lid carries a zipped mesh pocket that spans its whole width; below that sits a row of elastic loops for pens; and a padded divider flap separates them from the deep base. Three distinct places to put things, in a case most children would want for the outside alone.
