Eight border strips, each one a yellow band with a magenta wavy ground along the bottom, a tall green tree standing at the left, scattered flowers, and one animal walking across it. The animals across the eight are a zebra, a camel, an antelope, a giraffe, a rhino, a buffalo, a horse and a leopard, so no two strips repeat.

Borders are what a classroom actually runs out of. Schools buy charts readily and then have a noticeboard with a ragged paper frame, a display with nothing round it, and a window wall that stops abruptly. Eight strips is enough to frame a full noticeboard and still have pieces left for the top of a display, which is why this is one of the larger purchases in the range.

The animals are deliberately not naturalistic. The zebra is green, the camel and giraffe red, the rhino and buffalo blue, the horse green. If you want realistic animal colours for a science lesson this is the wrong product — but for a border, where the job is to carry the eye along the edge of a display rather than to teach, the flat unnatural colours read far better from a distance than accurate greys and browns would.

The banner reads CLASSROOM BORDERS DIFFERENT SHAPES, which is a slightly odd description: every strip is the same rectangular band, and it is the animals that differ rather than the shapes. The strips themselves are exactly what they look like.

Each strip is its own piece, so they can be butted end to end round a board, spaced along a wall with gaps, or cut down if your board is shorter. The tree at the left-hand end of each strip makes a natural join when two are placed in a row — the eye reads the trees as a repeating rhythm rather than a break.

Nothing has an adhesive backing and no size is printed on the strips or the red banner, so we claim neither. Safencia sells the set at Rs. 2,180 with Cash on Delivery all over Pakistan — WhatsApp us and we will confirm stock, measure a strip and give you your city's delivery charge before dispatch.
