A dumpling squishy is the one squeeze toy Pakistani kids ask for by name, and this version comes with the part most cheap ones leave out: a lidded yellow case moulded like a bamboo steamer basket. The dumpling lives inside it, which keeps it clean in a school bag and turns putting it away into part of the game.

The dumpling itself measures about 8.5 cm across and 5.3 cm tall, so it fills a child's palm without being too big for an adult hand. Its top is pleated like a real steamed dumpling and marbled with white streaks through the colour, and every one carries a small cartoon face with pink cheeks. Some look grumpy, some look shocked, one or two smile. Children tend to name them after the expression they got.

Pressed flat, it folds in on itself and the face stretches with it, then it slowly swells back into shape. That slow return is what makes it calming to hold: squeeze, let go, watch it rise, repeat. It is quiet, so it works during homework, on a long car ride or in a waiting room where a clicking toy would annoy everyone else.

Colours are pink, blue, green, orange and yellow swirl, and one is sent at random. The case is the same bright yellow whatever colour arrives. If a particular colour matters, say so on WhatsApp before ordering and we will tell you what is in stock.

Keep it out of direct sun and away from a hot car dashboard, because heat softens squishy material and can leave it sticky or misshapen. Wipe it with a damp cloth if it picks up dust. It is a toy, not food, and the face details are small, so it suits children aged three and up rather than toddlers who still put things in their mouths.
