The case is a gamepad. Not a gamepad printed on a rectangle — the shell is moulded into the full controller silhouette, with the two grip handles curving down at the bottom and the body waisting in between them, exactly the outline a child recognises from across a room.

The controls are moulded too. A four-way D-pad stands proud on the left, four coloured action buttons sit in a diamond on the right, a ring-lit power button sits in the centre, and there are two smaller circular pads below with a COOL ZONE badge along the top edge. Everything is raised, so a thumb finds the D-pad without looking.

This is a conversation-piece case and it should be judged as one. It costs Rs. 1,520 because the tooling for a waisted, grip-handled shell with individually moulded controls is a different order of work from pressing a flat oval — and because a child will show it to every person who sits near them.

It is a hard shell, so it protects properly. The zip follows the outline all the way round including the curve of both grips, which is more zip length than a rectangle needs but is what keeps the silhouette clean.

One honest note on shape: a controller outline is wider and shorter than a normal pencil case, so it takes pens across rather than along. Full-length pens fit fine, but the usable space is spread across the body rather than being one long channel, and the grip handles are too narrow to hold anything.
