This is two fidget toys in one flower. Five translucent keycaps in red, pink, yellow, green and purple sit like petals around a clear round centre, and that centre is a spinner with a metal bearing. Click the keys, then flick the middle and let it whirl, then go back to clicking. Most people end up doing both without thinking about it.

Each key is a clicky mechanical-style switch, so it gives the crisp press-and-snap that keyboard fans like. The keys light up in their own colours when pressed, and when the flower is spun the lights blur into a ring of rainbow colour. In a dim room it is genuinely eye-catching.

The bearing is what separates a good spinner from a toy one: it lets the centre keep turning after a single flick instead of stopping dead. The keycaps and body are transparent, so you can see the switches and the bearing working inside.

It hangs from a detachable metal keychain with a spring clip, so it can ride on a school bag, a pencil case or a set of keys, and come off when someone wants to hold it properly. Lying flat, it fits in the palm of an adult hand.

Because of the clicking and the spinning parts, the supplier recommends it for ages six and up. It is not silent, so it suits the bus, the playground and the desk at home better than a quiet classroom. Keep it dry, as there are lights inside.
