It is moulded EVA — firm rather than rigid. It gives under a thumb and springs back, which is what protects the contents from being crushed by books.

Light scuffs will show less on black than on a white or pale shell, but a sharp edge such as a compass point can leave a mark on any moulded case. Keep sharp instruments in a separate geometry box.

Roughly ages 6 to 13. The sports print reads as school-age rather than nursery, and there is nothing childish about a plain black shell if it carries on into secondary.

Full-length pens and pencils lie in it comfortably. A 30 cm ruler is longer than the shell and will not close inside — use a 15 cm ruler if it has to live in the same case.

Yes. Wipe the shell with a damp cloth. Do not soak it or machine wash it, as water getting between the foam and the lining is what makes these cases go soft.

No. The case is sold empty and every photograph shows it that way. You receive the pencil case only.
