This is a train set for the age when a child wants a real track on the floor, not just a push-along engine. A green engine with a bear driver in the cab pulls three carriages around a grey track, and the chimney puffs out a light water mist while the lights glow and music plays.

The mist is what children notice first. A small water bottle comes in the box: fill the chimney with a few drops of plain water and the engine releases a spray that looks like steam as it runs. It is water vapour rather than real smoke, so there is no smell and no special liquid to buy.

The carriages are the playful part. One is a fresh juice stall, one an ice cream cart and one a fast food wagon with a box of fries on top, which turns the train into a moving food market. Younger children load small figures and pretend to sell snacks at each stop; older ones race the engine against a timer.

The track clips together from four curved and eight straight pieces. Depending on how they are joined, the layout comes out at roughly 79 x 52 cm as an oval or 63 x 63 cm as a rounder loop, so it fits on a bedroom floor or a large table without taking over the room.

The engine is battery operated. Children aged three and up can build the track with a little help, and an adult should do the battery fitting and the first water fill. Empty the chimney before putting the set away so it stays dry between play sessions.
