A fruit basket a baby can squash. The Baby Love bag holds six soft fruits: a bunch of yellow bananas, a red strawberry, a purple bunch of grapes, a yellow lemon, a green apple and an orange with a green leaf. Each one squeaks when it is squeezed and floats when it lands in the bath.

Fruit is one of the first things a child learns to name, and these six are the fruits a Pakistani family buys every week. Holding a soft banana while a parent names it, or picking the strawberry out of the pile, turns bath time and floor time into early vocabulary practice.

The shapes are moulded to feel different in the hand: the bumpy grapes, the seeded strawberry, the smooth round apple and orange, the curved bunch of bananas. That variety is what babies explore with their fingers and mouths, and the squeak rewards every squeeze.

Like every squeaky bath toy, each fruit takes in water through its hole. Squeeze it out with the hole facing down after the bath and leave the fruits to dry upside down on a towel.

We recommend them from 12 months, with an adult beside the tub. Older brothers and sisters use the same fruits for a pretend fruit stall.
