The yellow rubber duck is the best-known bath toy there is, and this bag holds six of them. Every duck is the same size, with a red beak and black eyes, and each one squeaks when a child squeezes it: the sound Pakistani families call chu chu. Put them in the water and they float upright and bob about, ready to be pushed, chased and lined up.

Six turns out to be a useful number. Two children can share them three each without an argument, a toddler can count them in and out of the water, and a duck family game needs a mother and her ducklings. Lined up along the edge of the tub, they turn bath time into a small parade.

They are just as much fun away from the bathroom: in a bucket bath on the balcony, in a paddling pool in summer, or squeezed on the sofa for the sound alone. They are light and soft, so a small child can carry the whole family around in two hands.

Like every squeaky bath toy, each duck takes in a little water through its squeak hole. After the bath, squeeze every duck with the hole facing down until it stops dripping, then leave them to dry hole-down on a towel. Doing this after each bath keeps the inside clean.

The bag is marked 3+, so the ducks are meant for children from three years; with younger brothers and sisters in the tub, stay right beside them.
