There is no remote control with this one, and that is the entire point. An infrared sensor underneath the helicopter looks down, finds your palm, and holds the aircraft above it. Move your hand and the helicopter follows; drop your hand away and it settles. A four-year-old who cannot yet work two joysticks can fly this in the first thirty seconds out of the box.

Switch it on and it lifts off by itself after about three seconds — no throttle to find, no launch technique to learn. That single behaviour is why it works as a first flying toy where remote helicopters usually end in tears: there is nothing to get wrong, so the child spends the time playing instead of learning controls.

It is deliberately small, roughly 17.5 by 11.5 centimetres, and made of light ABS plastic with soft flexible rotor blades. That combination is what makes it an indoor toy rather than a garden one — it has almost no mass, so a collision with a wall or a face is a bump rather than a scratch. It is also why any real breeze will beat it, so keep it inside.

The 3.7V 75mAh lithium cell is built in and charges from the supplied cable in around thirty minutes, giving roughly six to eight minutes of hovering. That ratio sounds short written down and rarely matters in practice: hand-flying is an intense game, and most children want a break by the time it lands anyway.

It is recommended from about eight years old, mainly because the rotors do spin fast enough to catch loose hair and small children try to grab it out of the air. Supervised, it is the least intimidating flying toy in the shop and the one most likely to be flying again a month later.
