This is a cheerful little car with a face: a round lime-green body, a big smile under the bonnet, glowing headlights for eyes and chunky blue wheels with red star hubs. The side reads Lovely and the front reads Funny Car next to a row of music notes.

Switch it on and it rolls along playing music, and the whole cabin lights up. The windows and roof are clear, and inside them a spinning cluster of coloured lights throws pink, blue, yellow and green sparkles through every window, like a tiny disco on wheels.

You may see this toy sold elsewhere as the Funny Foxi musical car. The car in our photos has no fox on it — it is this green Funny Car — and that is what arrives in the box.

Light-up musical cars are a favourite for children around three to five: they are easy to switch on, they move by themselves and they look magical in a darkened room. It is also an easy car to chase for a toddler who has just started walking.

It is battery operated. Play on smooth floors such as tiles, marble or wood for the best movement.
