A quarter litre of acrylic in a flip-top squeeze jar for Rs. 900, which works out to Rs. 3.60 a millilitre. Only one thing on our acrylic shelf is cheaper — our own Marie's 500 ml jar at Rs. 3.50 — so if you are buying paint by volume rather than by colour range, these two jars are where the shelf bottoms out. Three colours are stocked in this size: Lemon Yellow 215, Yellow Mid 227 and Ultramarine 443.
The label states what the paint is: quick drying, a satin finish, water based, and suitable for canvas, paper, wood and fabric, mixable with all acrylic colours and mediums. There is a labelling quirk here that confused us and will confuse you if you buy from a shelf rather than from this page. Each bottle carries a model code, **A-6250B** or **A-6500B**, and those codes do **not** encode the volume: both appear on 250 ml bottles and both appear on 500 ml bottles. No volume is printed on the label at all. In this 250 ml size, Lemon Yellow 215 and Ultramarine 443 are A-6250B while Yellow Mid 227 is A-6500B — same jar, same price, different code. Which of the two jar sizes you want comes down to how much of one colour you will actually get through. The 500 ml is Rs. 3.50 a millilitre against Rs. 3.60 here, so the saving from buying up is real but small — about 3%. Where a 250 ml jar wins is on colours you use steadily but not heavily, because a half-litre bottle of a colour you dip into occasionally will skin over at the neck long before you reach the bottom.
