ONO is Fun Zone's take on the shedding card game that families across Pakistan already play at every gathering. The idea is familiar from the first card: lay a card that matches the colour or the number on the pile, use action cards to slow everyone else down, and be the first to empty your hand.

If you know UNO, you will be playing ONO within a minute, and that is the point of it. The deck uses number cards in red, yellow, green and blue, with Skip, Reverse and +2 action cards, and a black four-colour wild card changes the colour at the right moment. The rules are close enough that a child who learnt at a cousin's house can teach the rest of the table.

The difference you notice is the packaging. ONO comes in a printed lidded box rather than a paper tuck box, so it survives being opened and closed at every weekend game, and a spare pack for the drawing room cupboard is less likely to get squashed in a drawer.

The box prints 2 to 10 players and ages 7 and up. That range makes it an easy fit for parties, class trips and long family evenings, and because each round is quick, nobody sits out for long before the next game starts.

It also makes a sensible low-cost gift for a birthday party goodie bag or a friend's child, since almost every child over seven already knows how to play a colour-matching card game.
