The car is drawn in full side profile across the width of the lid — red fading into yellow along the flank, a wide rear wing, black alloy wheels and the number 95 with a lightning flash struck through it. Behind it sit oversized racing letters in yellow and a small supercar tag on the right, with a dashed white track line running along the bottom edge like a start grid.

It is the busiest print in our pencil case range and that is deliberate. Children choose these cases in about two seconds, and a car at full width from a metre away wins that decision against a small motif on a plain shell every time.

Structurally it is the same class of case as the rest of our hard shells: pressed foam, domed lid, zip round three sides. What that buys is protection from crushing. Pens keep their nibs and pencils keep their points even when the case travels at the bottom of a bag beneath a stack of copies.

The blue used here is deeper than a mid-blue — closer to indigo — which is a sensible pairing with a red-and-yellow car because it keeps the artwork readable instead of letting the colours fight. It also hides scuffing better than a pale shell would.

A word on capacity so nobody is disappointed. This is an everyday writing kit case: a handful of pens, a few pencils, a rubber, a sharpener. It is not sized for a 24-shade colouring set, and a full 30 cm ruler is longer than the shell.
