Description

A single squared-off block of yellow foam — the choras every art shop counter in Pakistan keeps in a box by the brushes. The foam is open-cell and the same yellow the whole way through, so a cut face looks exactly like the outside and the pore structure stays even wherever you press it.

It is a texture tool before it is anything else. Dipped in poster or acrylic colour and pressed rather than dragged, the block leaves a broken, mottled mark that no brush can imitate — foliage on a tree, cloud edges, brick and stone, rust, the crowd in the background of a poster. Turn it a few degrees between presses and the pattern never repeats, which is the whole point of sponging.

The flat faces do the plain work. A large wash goes down faster with a block than with a brush and dries with fewer streaks, and in watercolour the dry block is what lifts colour and standing water back out of a sky that has gone too dark. On the palette it wipes puddles clear between colours, and it dampens a stamp pad or a sheet of paper evenly before wet-in-wet work.

Because the foam is uniform all through, you can cut it. Slice a corner off with scissors or a craft knife and you have a small dabber for tight areas, a wedge for edges, or a thin sheet for pressing texture into craft paint and plaster, while the rest of the block stays whole for the big passes. A brush cannot be divided this way, and a natural sponge loses its shape when it is cut.

It works differently from the handled foam brushes on the site. Those are cut flat and mounted on a stick to lay an even stroke — a straight edge, a border, a coat of glue or varnish. The block has no handle and no straight working edge, so it is held in the fingers and used for coverage and for the random texture a stroke can never give.

The block is supplied loose with nothing printed on it, and no size is marked anywhere. We do not quote a measurement we cannot read off the product, so if the exact dimensions matter for your work, ask on WhatsApp before ordering and we will measure the block in stock for you.

The Safencia price is Rs. 165 for the block. Cash on Delivery is available across Pakistan, and stock, your city and delivery charges are confirmed on WhatsApp before dispatch.

Why this product is worth considering

Texture a Brush Cannot Make

Pressed rather than dragged, the open pores leave a broken mottled mark for foliage, cloud, brick, stone and rust.

Same Foam All the Way Through

A cut face matches the outside exactly, so the block can be trimmed into a small dabber or a wedge without wasting it.

Fast, Streak-Free Coverage

The flat faces lay a large wash of poster or acrylic colour quicker than a brush and dry with far fewer streaks.

FAQs

Is the foam choras a cutting tool?

No, and some listings online describe it wrongly. It is a plain block of painting sponge with no blade and no cutting edge, used for dabbing texture and spreading colour.

What size is the foam block?

No size is printed on it, and we do not quote a measurement we cannot read off the product. Ask on WhatsApp before ordering and we will measure the block that is in stock.

Which paints does it work with?

Poster, acrylic, fabric and craft paints all sponge well, and it is used dry with watercolour to lift colour. Thick undiluted acrylic clogs the pores, so thin it a little before dipping.

Can the foam block be cut into smaller pieces?

Yes. The foam is the same all the way through, so scissors or a craft knife give a small dabber, a wedge or a thin texture sheet, and the rest of the block stays usable.

How is it different from a foam brush?

A foam brush is cut flat on a handle to lay one even stroke along an edge or a border. The block has no handle and no straight edge, so it covers ground and makes random texture instead.

How do you clean the sponge?

Rinse it in cool water while the paint is still wet, then squeeze rather than wring it and dry it flat. Acrylic and fabric paint set inside the foam permanently if they are left to dry.

Is it suitable for children's painting?

It suits about five years and up. Sponge printing is one of the easiest ways for a young child to fill a large area, though an adult should do any cutting of the block.

Can it be used for sponge printing on fabric?

Yes, with fabric paint. Cut a shape into a piece of the block, press it into a shallow pool of colour and stamp with even pressure, and rinse the piece straight after use.

Can I pay cash on delivery for Foam Choras Sponge in Pakistan?

Yes. Cash on Delivery is available across Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and many other cities.

How fast is delivery in Pakistan?

Orders are confirmed on WhatsApp before dispatch. Delivery usually takes 3-5 working days in major Pakistani cities, depending on courier route and city.
