Description
Plenty of shape sorters let a piece drop straight onto a plain stick. This one does not. Each of the four wooden posts has small pegs sticking out of its sides, and every shape has a matching slot cut through its middle, so a piece only slides down when the slot is turned to line up with the pegs.
That one detail changes the toy. A child quickly learns that pushing harder does nothing and turning does everything, and the posts get more demanding as the pieces go lower, because the pegs sit at different heights. It is a problem-solving toy disguised as a stacker.
