A single paint marker from Snowman, printed clearly on the barrel with the brand name, the colour name and a model code — No. GP for gold, No. SP for silver, No. WP for white, No. CP for the coloured Paint Marker line, and so on. Every barrel states "permanent type ink" and carries a snowflake mark and a "push to open" arrow above the tip, which is how the ink is primed before first use.

Our photographs show nine shades: gold, silver, white, blue, brown, yellow, red, pink and green. Gold, silver and white are printed simply "Marker"; the coloured shades read "Paint Marker" on the barrel — the same ink family sold under two label styles rather than two different products.

It is sold one piece at a time in the colour you choose, not as a boxed set. The round tip lays a bold, even line on most surfaces a permanent marker takes to — glass, metal, stone, wood, plastic and dark card among them, which is the usual reason a metallic or paint marker gets bought over an ordinary marker pen.

"Permanent type" on the barrel means it is not designed to wipe off with water once dry, so test an inconspicuous area first on any surface you plan to reuse or return, and keep it away from fabric you cannot afford to mark.
