Eight steps from near-black through greys to white, laid out in our photographs so the progression is visible.
The grey Cretacolor box with its window open to the eight square sticks, stepping from near-black to white.
Description
Take the colour away and what is left is value — how light or dark a thing is — and value is what decides whether a drawing reads as solid or flat. This set is eight hard pastels that step from a near-black through a run of greys to white, which is a value scale you can hold in your hand. Our photographs show all eight laid out unwrapped, and the progression from one to the next is even enough to work through in order.
That is a specific way of working, not a limitation. Painters who cannot make a picture read correctly are usually getting value wrong rather than colour, and the standard cure is to spend time drawing without any colour at all. A grey set forces the issue: you cannot reach for a warm brown to fake depth, so you have to place the tone properly.
These are hard pastels, which matters as much as the colour. A hard stick is compressed firmly enough to hold a corner, so it draws a line and takes detail where a soft pastel would only crumble and fill. The box names them Pastel Carré — square pastel — and the square section gives a flat face for laying tone and a sharp edge for the line in the same stick.
The box is grey with a monochrome study across the front and a window showing the sticks. It prints Bruynzeel's CRETACOLOR®, the numeral 8, then Grey Hard Pastels with Pastel Carré and Graukreiden beneath. Our brown-tone Cretacolor box prints Brevillier's rather than Bruynzeel's — different print runs of the same brand, not a sign that either is wrong.
On price, be aware this is the dearer of the pair. Rs. 1,850 for eight sticks is Rs. 231.25 each, while our Cretacolor Brown Hard Pastels set is Rs. 1,500, or Rs. 187.50 — the grey costs 23% more for the same count and the same square format. If you only want one Cretacolor box and are not committed to tonal work, the brown set is the cheaper way in.
It suits artists and senior students from about 12 years up. The Safencia price is Rs. 1,850 with Cash on Delivery across Pakistan. Stock, your city, and delivery charges are confirmed on WhatsApp before dispatch.

FAQs
What is a grey pastel set actually for?
Value studies. Cretacolor Grey Hard Pastels step from near-black through greys to white, so you place tone without colour to lean on — the usual cure for a drawing that reads flat.
Should I buy the grey set or the brown one?
Grey for pure tonal work, brown for warm subjects and portrait underdrawing. Cretacolor Grey Hard Pastels are also the dearer pair at Rs. 231.25 a stick against Rs. 187.50 for the brown.
How are hard pastels different from soft ones?
Firmness. Cretacolor Grey Hard Pastels hold a sharp corner so they draw lines and take detail, while soft pastels crumble on purpose so their powder can be blended by finger.
Are the eight greys evenly spaced?
In our photographs the eight sticks of Cretacolor Grey Hard Pastels lay out in a readable progression from near-black to white. Whether every step is exactly equal is something to judge on your own paper, so swatch them in order first.
Can I use them over soft pastel colour?
That is a normal way to work. Lay broad soft-pastel colour first and use Cretacolor Grey Hard Pastels over it for edges, dark accents and the lines a soft stick cannot hold.
Why does the box say Bruynzeel's rather than Brevillier's?
Different print runs of the same brand. The Cretacolor Grey Hard Pastels box in our photographs prints Bruynzeel's CRETACOLOR while our brown-tone box prints Brevillier's — neither is a sign of a problem.
What paper suits them?
A sheet with some tooth. Cretacolor Grey Hard Pastels need texture for the pigment to grip, and a toothed paper also lets a white stick sit convincingly over a darker tone.
Can I pay cash on delivery for Cretacolor Grey Hard Pastels in Pakistan?
Yes. Cash on Delivery is available across Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and many other cities.
How fast is delivery in Pakistan?
Orders are confirmed on WhatsApp before dispatch. Delivery usually takes 3-5 working days in major Pakistani cities, depending on courier route and city.
