Start with the size, because a lit render flatters a small toy. The specification sheet that comes with it puts this jellyfish at 15.7 cm tall and 11.2 cm wide - about a grapefruit, or a tall mug. It is a desk-and-floor character, not a big floor toy, and knowing that before it arrives is the difference between a happy child and a disappointed one.

What it does is easy to describe: it walks. The skirt of soft tentacles underneath works as both legs and springs, so the toy shuffles off in whatever direction it is pointed, turns, and carries on - and it dances on the spot in between. A child does not drive it. They put it down, and then follow it around the room.

The character is the reason this one sells rather than the mechanism. Round black glasses, orange headphones with rainbow LED rings in the ear cups, a printed smile and two short arms held out - it reads as a small cartoon rather than a toy with a motor in it. The lights sit in those ear cups, so the colour flashes at head height rather than glowing out of the body.

Music and sounds play while it moves, listed on the maker's own feature sheet alongside the lights and the tentacles. It is a noisy little thing by design - that is what a three-year-old wants from it - so expect to hear where it has got to.
