A six-colour Marie's set in the blue Fine Quality carton, printed 6 ACRYLIC COLOURS across the top and FINE QUALITY MARIE'S ACRYLIC COLOUR across a banner on the front, with 30ml and 1.04fl.oz. in the corner and SINCE 1919 beneath. The carton has a die-cut window so you can see the six tubes standing inside before it is opened.
The six colours are named and coded on the tubes, all carrying the model number NO.813B: 104 Titanium White, 215 Lemon Yellow, 324 Vermilion, 443 Ultramarine, 505 Green Mid and 793 Black. Each also prints a lightfastness rating in stars — three or four depending on the colour — which Marie's grey boxed sets do not do. For a six-colour set that information is genuinely useful, because with only six tubes you will be mixing constantly and it helps to know which of them will hold up.
As a palette it is the classic six: white, black, a cool yellow, a warm red, a blue and a green. That will mix oranges, purples, a range of greens and most muted tones.
