Children who wave at every plane overhead will recognise this one straight away. It is a chunky sky-blue cartoon aeroplane with a winking face on the nose, a big teal nose cone, a sun painted on its tail fin and two grey jet engines under its wings.

Its best feature is the passenger cabin. The upper body is see-through, so you can look in at the rows of brown seats, the little passengers sitting in them and the aisle between. The roof of the cabin opens up for a closer look inside, which turns the plane into a small playset as well as a moving toy.

Switch it on and it plays music while it moves around on its wheels, and it can also stay in one place and perform — the white base under its belly lets it turn on the spot. That mix of moving and staying still keeps it interesting for longer than a toy that only drives in a straight line.

It is a good toy for the weeks before a family trip abroad or to Umrah: children can practise boarding, sitting in seats and landing, and ask all their questions about flying before the real thing.

It is battery operated and sold for children from three years. Play on a smooth floor for the smoothest movement.
