Description

Most oil painting in Pakistan is thinned with a bottle like this one rather than with an imported artist's oil, and the reason is arithmetic. Prima's litre bottle is Rs. 1,500, which works out to Rs. 1.50 per millilitre. The Daler-Rowney Purified Linseed Oil on the same shelf is Rs. 28 per millilitre — roughly nineteen times as much. For studies, underpainting, teaching work and anything where oil goes in by the spoonful, that gap decides it.

Choose the size with the same care. The 120 ml bottle is Rs. 299, or Rs. 2.49 per millilitre; the litre is Rs. 1.50. Buying the large bottle is about 40% cheaper per millilitre — one of the few genuine bulk savings on this whole shelf, and worth taking if you paint regularly. Linseed oil does thicken with age once opened, so the litre suits someone who paints often rather than someone who works a few evenings a year.

The label reads Supper Fine above Linseed Oil in red, then Prima Industries in a blue band with a Lahore address at the foot. The address line is printed differently across the bottles we photographed, which is a label reprint rather than anything to worry about — the maker is the same. The oil itself is a clear golden amber through the bottle, which is what linseed oil should look like.

What it does is what any linseed oil does: thins oil colour, slows its drying so blending stays possible for longer, and adds gloss to the dried film. What an imported refined oil buys over it is consistency and less colour, which matters on a pale passage or on work you intend to keep for decades. On a study, it does not.

The label prints no purity grade, no refining process and no safety certification, so this page claims none of those. Use it in a ventilated room, keep it away from children, and spread oil-soaked rags out to dry rather than balling them into a bin — drying oils generate heat as they cure.

It suits oil painters from about 12 years up. The Safencia price starts at Rs. 299 with Cash on Delivery across Pakistan. Stock, the size you want, your city, and delivery charges are confirmed on WhatsApp before dispatch.

FAQs

Should I buy the 120 ml or the litre of Prima Linseed Oil?

The litre if you paint regularly. Prima Linseed Oil is Rs. 1.50 per millilitre in the 1000 ml bottle against Rs. 2.49 in the 120 ml — about 40% cheaper, one of the few real bulk savings on this shelf.

Is it as good as an imported artist's linseed oil?

Not in consistency or colour, and we would rather say so. Prima Linseed Oil is Rs. 1.50 per millilitre against Rs. 28 for our Daler-Rowney purified oil — buy the local bottle for studies and volume work, the imported one for pieces you intend to keep.

Why does the label look slightly different on different bottles?

The address line on Prima Linseed Oil is printed differently across the bottles we photographed. It is a label reprint from the same Lahore maker rather than a sign that anything is wrong with the bottle.

What does linseed oil actually do to oil paint?

Prima Linseed Oil thins the colour, slows its drying so blending stays possible for longer, and adds gloss to the dried film. It is the standard oil-painting medium, which is why almost every studio keeps a bottle.

Does a big bottle go off?

Linseed oil thickens with age once air reaches it, so the litre of Prima Linseed Oil suits someone painting often. If you work a few evenings a year, the 120 ml bottle is the more sensible size despite costing more per millilitre.

Is it safe to use at home?

Use Prima Linseed Oil in a ventilated room and keep it away from children. The important precaution is with rags — drying oils generate heat as they cure, so spread oil-soaked cloths out to dry rather than balling them into a bin.

Can I use it with acrylic paint?

No. Prima Linseed Oil is an oil-painting medium and belongs with oil colour. Acrylics thin with water or with a purpose-made acrylic medium, several of which are on our mediums shelf.

Can I pay cash on delivery for Prima Linseed Oil in Pakistan?

Yes. Cash on Delivery is available across Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and many other cities.

How fast is delivery in Pakistan?

Orders are confirmed on WhatsApp before dispatch, including which size you want. Delivery usually takes 3-5 working days in major Pakistani cities, depending on courier route and city.
