Buy Sketching & Drawing Pencils Online in Pakistan
A drawing pencil is a writing pencil with the range put back in. Where a school HB gives you one tone, a sketching set runs from hard H grades that barely mark the paper to 6B and 8B that lay down deep black, and shading is what happens in between. Safencia stocks 40 of them from Rs. 75: graded graphite sets from Faber-Castell, Cretacolor, Mont Marte, Nyoni, Keep Smiling, Ulson, Aero and Worison; charcoal and white charcoal pencils; pastel pencils; woodless graphite; and complete kits that arrive with erasers, blending stumps and a case.
If you are buying a first set, the useful question is not which brand but how many grades and what comes with them. A 12-piece graded set covers everything a beginner needs. A 27 or 29-piece kit is buying the accessories as much as the pencils — each listing states exactly what is in the box, counted from the product itself.
What do 2B, 6B and 2H actually mean?
The letters grade the core. H means hard: more clay, a lighter and finer line that holds a point. B means black: more graphite, a softer and darker line that smudges and blends. HB and F sit in the middle. A sketch normally starts light in H or HB and gets darker in the B grades as the drawing is built up.

For a beginner
A 12-piece graded set is the honest starting point: enough range to learn shading, not so much that half the tin stays unused. Add a kneadable eraser from the erasers collection for lifting highlights.
For deep blacks
Graphite goes grey and shiny at its darkest. Charcoal pencils go genuinely black and matt, which is why tonal and portrait work reaches for them — keep a soft, a medium and a white in the case.
Sharpening drawing pencils
Soft B grades and charcoal snap in a blunt blade. Turn slowly with a sharp artist sharpener, or use a blade and sand block for a long point. Woodless graphite is easier to shape on sandpaper than in a sharpener.

Sketching & Drawing Pencil FAQs
What do 2B, 4B, 6B and 2H mean on a drawing pencil?
They are grades. B stands for black — a softer core with more graphite that lays down a darker line, and the number says how soft, so 6B is much darker and softer than 2B. H stands for hard — more clay, a lighter and finer line that keeps its point. HB and F sit between the two scales.
Which sketching pencil set should a beginner buy?
A graded set of around 12 pencils spanning roughly 2H to 6B or 8B. That is enough range to learn how tone is built without paying for grades you will not touch. Larger 27 to 29-piece kits are worth it when you also want the erasers, blending stumps and case that come with them.
What is the price of a sketching pencil set in Pakistan?
Safencia's drawing pencils run from Rs. 75 for a single pencil up to Rs. 4,625 for a large artist tin or a full drawing kit. A 12-piece graded set sits in the middle of that range. Every current price is displayed on the product card.
What is the difference between charcoal and graphite pencils?
Graphite is grey and slightly reflective, holds a fine point and erases cleanly. Charcoal is matt, far blacker and more granular, blends beautifully with a finger or a stump, but smudges easily and needs care once the drawing is finished. Most tonal artists use both — graphite for structure, charcoal for the darks.
What is a white charcoal or white pastel pencil for?
It adds light rather than removing it. On toned, grey or dark paper a white pencil puts highlights back on top of the drawing — something an eraser cannot do because there is no white in the paper to uncover. It is a drawing tool, not a correction tool.
What are woodless graphite pencils?
The entire pencil is a solid stick of graphite under a thin lacquer coat, with no wooden casing. That lets you shade with the whole side of the pencil to cover large areas quickly, and nothing is wasted as wood shavings — but it marks your hands and is best shaped on a sandpaper block.
Do I need a special sharpener for drawing pencils?
A sharp blade matters more than a special tool. Soft B grades and charcoal cores snap against a dull sharpener, so use a sharpener with a good blade and turn slowly, or a craft blade and sandpaper block if you want a long exposed point. Safencia lists artist sharpeners in the sharpeners collection.
