This strawberry is built for a proper squeeze. It is a bright, glossy red berry about 9 cm tall, with raised seed dimples all over and a green leaf cap and stalk on top. Close a fist around it and it folds right over on itself, the seeds stretching apart, and then pulls itself back into a berry when you open your hand.

It feels different from a slow-rising foam squishy. The skin is smooth and shiny, a little cool to the touch, and the body gives way under pressure and returns steadily rather than slowly, so it suits children who like to squash, pinch and knead rather than press and wait.

Nine centimetres is roughly the size of a large real strawberry blown up by half again, which makes it big enough for two small hands and a satisfying one-hand squeeze for an adult. The raised seeds give fingers something to find, which children who fidget with textures appreciate.

The strawberries are supplied in a pink twelve-piece display box, each one wrapped. One strawberry is sent per order. If you want a whole fruit basket, the assorted fruit squishy adds a pineapple, mango or orange in the same glossy style.
