Faber-Castell has been making art materials since 1761, which is printed under the jousting-knights mark on the front of this box and makes it comfortably the oldest name on our paint shelf. The carton is the Creative Studio livery — white with a navy header and an Eiffel Tower illustration — printed Acrylic Colours in five languages, Acrylfarben, Peinture acrylique, Colores acrilicos and Akrilik Boya, with a red roundel reading 12 Colours.
Every tube is named rather than numbered: Cobalt Blue Hue, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red Hue and Leaf Green are all legible in our photographs, each with ACRYLIC COLOUR beneath it and 12 ml at the base. The word Hue is doing real work there — it means the colour matches cadmium or cobalt in appearance without using the actual pigment, which is normal at this price and honest of Faber-Castell to print.
