Description
A round brush is judged on one thing: whether the head still comes to a point when it is loaded with paint. These do. The head carries a full belly of colour and then tapers to a single fine tip, which is the combination that lets one brush lay a broad stroke and then finish the same stroke in a hairline without being swapped out.
That is why a round is the brush most watercolour painters actually work with. A flat can only give you its width; a round gives you everything from its full body down to its point depending on how much pressure you put on it. Learning to use that range is most of what separates a confident wash from a laboured one.
It is sold one brush at a time in thirteen sizes, 00 through 12, so you buy the head you need. The smallest sizes are for detail — veins on a leaf, eyelashes, lettering.
