Most children paint with water in a drinking glass, and most of those glasses end up on the floor. This is the Rs. 90 version of solving that: a clear pot with a red lid that slopes inward to a small central opening, so a knock tips out a fraction of what an open glass would.

The ribs moulded into that funnel are the part worth understanding. Swirling a brush in still water rinses the outside of the bristles and leaves paint packed in at the base, near the metal, which is exactly where dried paint ruins a brush. Dragging the bristles across the ribs works that paint out instead, and it takes a few seconds rather than a proper wash at the sink.

The body is clear on purpose. Muddy colours usually come from water that went brown three paintings ago, and a see-through pot makes that obvious at a glance instead of after the damage is on the paper. Change the water when you can no longer see the bottom.

The lid lifts straight off for filling and emptying, so it is easy to rinse out and does not trap paint sludge in a corner you cannot reach. Notches moulded around the outer rim give the lid something to grip when you pull it free.

This is for water-based painting — poster colour, watercolour, acrylic and school paint. It is not a solvent container: oil painters need turpentine or white spirit in a proper metal or glass jar, not a light plastic pot.
