A thin dye-like colour that soaks into silk and travels until an outline stops it. Not a thick fabric paint.
The leaf green jar of Marabu SILK, with the label reading Seidenfarbe, Silk paint and Peinture pour soie.
Description
A squat glass jar with a black ribbed screw cap, labelled SILK and, underneath, Seidenfarbe, Silk paint and Peinture pour soie in the maker's three languages. It is made by Marabu in Germany, whose address and telephone number are printed down the right edge of every label alongside instructions in German and Russian.
Silk paint is not fabric paint, and buying one instead of the other is the commonest mistake on this shelf. Our Keep Smiling Fabric Color Set is a thick opaque colour that sits on top of the weave and holds a crisp edge by itself. This is the opposite: a thin, dye-like colour that soaks into the fibre and keeps travelling until something stops it. On silk it spreads a hand's width from a single touch of the brush.
That is why it is used alongside an outliner rather than on its own. You draw the shape first in gutta, let it dry, then flood the colour inside it and the outline holds it. Our Seta Gutta Cone Premium at Rs. 220 does that job cheaply, and our Marabu Contours & Effects at Rs. 1,550 does it with a fitted nozzle in gold, copper, pearl, silver or black.
The finished colour is transparent and luminous rather than opaque, which is the whole point on a dupatta or a scarf - light passes through the cloth and the colour glows instead of sitting on it like paint. It will not cover a dark ground, and no amount of a second coat will make it do so.
The jars are sold one colour at a time and we photograph each shade we hold, which currently runs across leaf and lime greens, turquoises, royal blue, violet and lavender, magenta, fuchsia, cerise and rose, golden yellow, orange, and mid and dark browns. Tell us the shade you want on WhatsApp when you order.
At Rs. 1,999 a jar is a considered purchase rather than an impulse one, so it suits somebody who has decided to paint silk properly rather than to try it once. We list it from 12 years up as a studio material. The Safencia price is Rs. 1,999 with Cash on Delivery across Pakistan, and stock, your city and delivery charges are confirmed on WhatsApp before dispatch.

FAQs
What is the difference between silk paint and fabric paint?
Thickness and behaviour. Marabu SILK Silk Paint is thin and dye-like, soaking into the fibre and spreading until an outline stops it, while a fabric colour such as our Keep Smiling set is thick and opaque and stays where the brush puts it.
Do I need a gutta outliner to use it?
In practice yes. Marabu SILK Silk Paint keeps travelling through the fibre, so a gutta line drawn first is what confines it - our Seta Gutta Cone Premium is Rs. 220 and our Marabu Contours & Effects is Rs. 1,550.
Will it cover a dark fabric?
No. Marabu SILK Silk Paint is transparent by design, so it tints a pale cloth and glows through it, and a second coat will not turn it opaque on a dark ground.
Which colours do you stock?
We photograph each jar we hold. Marabu SILK Silk Paint is currently on our shelf in leaf and lime greens, turquoises, royal blue, violet, lavender, magenta, fuchsia, cerise, rose pink, golden yellow, orange, and mid and dark brown.
How do I choose which shade is sent?
Tell us the shade when you confirm the order on WhatsApp. Marabu SILK Silk Paint is sold one colour to a jar rather than as a set.
How much colour is in a jar?
50 ml. Because Marabu SILK Silk Paint spreads so far on silk, a jar covers a good deal more cloth than the same volume of a thick fabric paint would.
Can I use it on cotton?
It will take, but the effect changes. Marabu SILK Silk Paint is formulated for silk, where the transparency and the flow are the point - on heavy cotton the colour sinks and the glow is largely lost.
Does an opened jar keep?
Yes. Marabu SILK Silk Paint comes in a glass jar with a black ribbed screw cap, so a part-used colour reseals and stays workable for the next project.
Can I pay cash on delivery for Marabu SILK Silk Paint 50ml in Pakistan?
Yes. Cash on Delivery is available across Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and many other cities.
How fast is delivery in Pakistan?
Orders are confirmed on WhatsApp before dispatch. Delivery usually takes 3-5 working days in major Pakistani cities, depending on courier route and city.
