Description
Twenty millilitres of liquid silver in a glass bottle with a ribbed white cap, hanging on a Mont Marte Premium card marked 20mL and 0.68 US fl.oz. Like the rest of the foil range it is brushed on top of finished work rather than mixed into it, and it is priced at Rs. 875, which is Rs. 43.75 a millilitre.
Silver is a fussier choice than gold and the studio photograph shows why it earns its place: it is worked over a blue and white pour, where every vein reads as a cold highlight. Put the same silver over ochres, terracottas and warm browns and it goes flat grey - the metal has no warmth of its own to fight back with. Choose it for cool palettes, greys, monochrome, marble effects and anything with white in it.
The pigment in it is heavy. In the open-bottle photograph it clings thickly to the inside of the cap and to the neck of the glass, which tells you two things: give it a proper stir before the first stroke, and reseal it promptly, because a screw-cap bottle left open will skin.
