That roundel is the reason most parents pick this box, and it is worth being precise about what it does and does not mean. It is the maker's own printed mark, not a Pakistani certification, and we quote it because it is on the carton rather than because we have tested anything. What it does tell you is that Staedtler chose to make that claim in print, which is more than most crayon boxes on a Pakistani shelf are willing to do.

Luna is Staedtler's school range rather than their professional one, and that is exactly right for crayons. The point of a school crayon is that it survives a pencil case, lays colour without effort and costs little enough to replace at the start of a term. A German writing brand making a school line to a price is a different proposition from an unbranded box at the same money.

Twelve or twenty-four is a real decision rather than an upsell. Twelve gives the primaries, secondaries and the basic neutrals — enough for almost any homework colouring task. Twenty-four is where the in-between shades live: the greys, the second greens, the flesh tones and the darker browns that a child needs the moment a drawing becomes about something specific rather than about colour for its own sake.
