Description

We stock two Daler-Rowney linseed oils. They are the same 75 ml bottle, the same Oil Mediums label and the same Rs. 2,100, and almost nobody is told the difference before buying. This one is the thin, ordinary one; the other is stand oil. Get the wrong bottle and your paint will behave nothing like you expected.

The label names it in five languages and the French gives the game away: Huile de Lin Purifiée — purified linseed oil. It is refined, pale and free-running. Poured into oil colour it thins the paint, extends drying time and adds a little gloss without changing how the paint handles. This is the general-purpose oil that most oil painters reach for by default, and the one to buy if you own only one.

Our other bottle, Linseed Stand Oil 015, is printed Huile de Lin Polymérisée — polymerised. It has been heat-treated until it is thick and syrupy, and the difference is visible in our own photographs: the stand oil clings to the inside of its glass and reads a deeper gold, while this one runs freely and sits pale yellow in the bottle. Stand oil levels brush marks and gives a smooth enamel-like film; purified linseed oil does not.

The bottle carries the code 014 down its spine, the black and red Oil Mediums banner with the rose swirl, and 75ml ℮, 2.5 US fl. oz at the foot. Along the bottom edge it prints Carefully read all safety information before use, which we pass on rather than paraphrase.

On price, be clear-eyed. Rs. 2,100 for 75 ml is Rs. 28 per millilitre. The Prima linseed oil we also stock is Rs. 299 for 120 ml, which is Rs. 2.49 per millilitre — about a ninth of the price. The local bottle is what most Pakistani studios actually thin with day to day; the Daler-Rowney is a refined artist's oil, and it earns its price on work you intend to keep rather than on studies.

It suits oil painters from about 12 years up, used in a ventilated room. The Safencia price is Rs. 2,100 with Cash on Delivery across Pakistan. Stock, your city, and delivery charges are confirmed on WhatsApp before dispatch.

FAQs

What is the difference between purified linseed oil and stand oil?

Purified Linseed Oil is thin and free-running; stand oil has been heat-polymerised until it is thick and syrupy. Both of ours are 75 ml at Rs. 2,100, so the choice is entirely about how you want the paint to behave.

Which of the two should I buy first?

Purified Linseed Oil, if you are only going to own one. It thins oil colour and extends drying time in a predictable way, whereas stand oil is bought specifically to level brush marks into a smooth film.

What does it actually do to my paint?

Purified Linseed Oil loosens oil colour so it brushes more easily, slows the drying, and adds a little gloss. It does not thicken the paint or change its body the way a stand oil or a painting medium would.

Is it worth nine times the price of your local linseed oil?

That depends on the work. Purified Linseed Oil is Rs. 28 per millilitre against Rs. 2.49 for the Prima bottle we also stock. The local oil is what most studios thin with daily; the refined one is for work you intend to keep.

Can I use it with acrylics?

No. Purified Linseed Oil belongs to Daler-Rowney's Oil Mediums range and is for oil colour only — oil and acrylic behave completely differently once dry, and the two should not be mixed.

Does adding oil make paint dry more slowly?

Yes, and that is often the point. Purified Linseed Oil extends the window in which oil paint stays workable, which matters for blending — but a heavily oiled layer takes correspondingly longer to be safe to paint over.

How should it be stored?

Cap the bottle firmly and keep it out of direct sun. Purified Linseed Oil is a drying oil, so a bottle left open will thicken in the neck, and the label's own line asks you to read all safety information before use.

Can I pay cash on delivery for Purified Linseed Oil 75 ml in Pakistan?

Yes. Cash on Delivery is available across Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and many other cities.

How fast is delivery in Pakistan?

Orders are confirmed on WhatsApp before dispatch. Delivery usually takes 3-5 working days in major Pakistani cities, depending on courier route and city.
