Description

Giotto is FILA's school and studio range, and the Serie 800 is its taklon round. Taklon is a synthetic filament made to behave like soft natural hair: it takes a point, springs back, and — unlike natural hair — does not swell or go limp when it sits in water, which is exactly what happens to a brush in a classroom.

That is what makes this a sensible brush for a student who is past the cheapest sets but not spending on sable. It points well enough for outlining and detail, holds enough colour for filling a shape, and survives being washed badly, which is more than most brushes at this price manage.

Five sizes are offered — 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 — each sold on its own. A size 4 handles detail and outlines, a 6 or 8 does the majority of a school painting, and the 10 and 12 fill larger shapes without needing a separate flat brush.

The handle is a dark blue lacquered wood, short table length rather than long easel length, printed with the FILA and GIOTTO names, SERIE 800 TAKLON and the size number. The ferrule is bright nickel drawn round to hold the point.

Being a round rather than a flat is the practical part. Press it and you get the width of the head, lift onto the tip and you get a line, so one brush both outlines a shape and fills it — which is why a round is the brush most people should own before they own anything else.

Prices are Rs. 415 for size 4 rising to Rs. 695 for size 12, each listed separately below. Cash on Delivery is available across Pakistan including Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, and stock, city and delivery charges are confirmed on WhatsApp before dispatch.

FAQs

What sizes of the Giotto taklon round are available?

Five: 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12. Each Giotto taklon round is sold on its own, priced from Rs. 415 for the size 4 up to Rs. 695 for the size 12.

What is taklon and why does it matter?

Taklon is a synthetic filament made to behave like soft natural hair — it takes a point and springs back. Unlike natural hair it does not swell or go soft after sitting in water, which is why a Giotto taklon round survives classroom washing.

Which size should a school student buy?

A size 6 or 8. That middle of the Giotto range fills a shape quickly but still points well enough to outline it, so it does most of a school painting on its own.

Is a round better than a flat brush for a beginner?

Usually yes. A flat only gives its width; the Giotto round gives a line when lifted onto its tip and its full width when pressed, so a beginner needs fewer brushes to start.

Is this a long-handled easel brush?

No. The Giotto Serie 800 round has a short table-length handle, made for working close at a desk. For standing back at an easel you want a long-handled brush instead.

How do I keep the point?

Rinse the brush before the paint sets and draw the head to a point between your fingers while damp. Taklon recovers better than natural hair, but a brush left standing on its tip in water will still take a bend.

Can I pay cash on delivery for Giotto Taklon Round Brush in Pakistan?

Yes. Cash on Delivery is available across Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and many other cities.

How fast is delivery in Pakistan?

Send the size you need on WhatsApp and the order is confirmed before dispatch. Delivery usually takes 3-5 working days in major Pakistani cities, depending on courier route and city.
