This is the serious metallic box: twenty-four tubes of 36 ml, sold as Mont Marte Metallic Acrylic Colour Signature. The black carton has a window across the top showing twelve tubes and a second row of twelve below, and the front is printed 24 pc alongside 36mL, 1.2 US fl.oz. The trilingual line reads Couleurs Acryliques Metalliques and Colores Acrilicos Metalicos.

What sets this box apart from the small metallic sets is that the range is not built around gold and silver. The printed chart runs through Golden Yellow, Tangerine, Bright Peach, Rose, Wine, Cerise Pink, Hot Pink, Fuchsia, Lilac, Ice Blue, Turquoise, Mint Green, Pistachio, Chartreuse, Celadon, Sage Green, Charcoal Grey and Black Grey before it reaches Silver, Gold, Brass, Bronze, Antique Bronze and Copper. In other words, most of it is coloured metallic — pearlised pinks, greens and blues — with the six metals as a subset rather than the point.

One thing to know before the box arrives: the shade chart printed on the pack is headed 24 Metallic Colours but actually shows thirty-six swatches, because it illustrates Mont Marte's wider metallic range rather than this particular box. The box itself holds twenty-four tubes — the count is printed on the front and both rows are visible through the window in our photographs. We would rather tell you that now than have you counting swatches against tubes on your kitchen table.

At Rs. 6,000 for 864 ml of paint, this box is Rs. 250 a tube and Rs. 6.94 a millilitre.
