A medium is not paint: it goes in by the spoonful, not by the tube, so 135 mL lasts through far more canvases than a beginner expects. The label prints the volume plainly at the foot of the ochre band — 135 mL, 4.6 US fl. oz.

What it changes is the surface. Acrylic straight from the tube dries flat and can look duller than it did while wet, and a canvas that disappointed you on the second day is usually a sheen problem rather than a colour problem. Mixed into the paint, this medium brings the shine back and makes the colour slightly more transparent at the same time.

There is one more thing our photographs show that most listings never mention. The medium is opaque white in the bottle and on the brush, and only becomes clear as the film dries. New buyers sometimes think they have been sent white paint. Stir a little into a colour on scrap paper, let it dry properly, and the mix will read as the colour you started with, only glossier.
