Description
Most people refill a permanent marker badly, and the carton on this bottle tells you how not to. Two instructions are printed down its side: shake well before refilling markers, and after refilling leave the marker for a few minutes in a tip-down position. Those two lines are the difference between a marker that writes immediately and one that skips for a page and then floods.
The reason is simple once you know it. Pigment settles in a bottle that has stood on a shelf, so an unshaken refill delivers thin, pale ink from the top of the jar. And felt takes time to draw ink through to the tip — stand the marker upright straight after refilling and gravity pulls the ink the wrong way, which is why the first few strokes come out dry. A few minutes nib-down solves it completely.
