A matt film scatters reflected light instead of mirroring it, so a hung canvas reads from anywhere in the room rather than from one angle.
Both sizes side by side — the tall 400 ml can beside the short 150 ml can, with the same matt varnish label on each.
Description
Two sizes of the same silver Professional can, 150 ml and 400 ml, printed MATT VARNISH with Vernis Mat, Barniz Mate, Vernice Opaca and Firnis Matt under it. The small print says what it is for and what it does: PROTECTS OIL & ACRYLIC PAINTINGS. REMOVABLE. WITH UV PROTECTION.
Matt is bought for one reason above all others — glare. Hang a glossy canvas on a wall under a ceiling tube light and the light source is reflected straight back at whoever is standing in front of it, so half the picture disappears into a white smear and the viewer has to move sideways to see it. A matt film scatters that reflection instead of mirroring it, and the painting reads from anywhere in the room. The same trick is why work photographed for Instagram or a portfolio is usually varnished matt: a gloss surface throws the phone, the window and the photographer into the frame.
There is an honest trade-off and it is worth knowing before you spray. The matting agent that scatters light also veils the surface very slightly, so the deepest darks sit a shade flatter than they would under gloss. Painters who want both often varnish gloss first for depth and matt over it for the glare, but if you only spray once, choose by where the picture will hang rather than by how it looks flat on the table.
Removable matters as much here as on any varnish. Dust and cooking smoke settle into a matt surface just as they do a glossy one, and because this film can be taken off again the dirt comes away with it and the paint underneath is never scrubbed.
Which can to buy is a sum rather than a guess. At Rs. 3,175 the 150 ml can works out at about Rs. 21 per millilitre; at Rs. 5,815 the 400 ml can is about Rs. 15. The large can is roughly a third cheaper per millilitre, so it is the better buy for anyone varnishing more than one or two small canvases, while the 150 ml suits an occasional finish and takes up far less room in a cupboard. The 400 ml can costs exactly the same as the gloss can in this range, so the finish is a free choice, not a paid upgrade.
Wait for the paint. Acrylic is ready within days, but oil stays soft under its skin for months and the usual advice is around six months before varnishing. Spray outdoors or at an open window, keep the can away from heat and out of reach of children, and let an adult do the spraying.

FAQs
Why choose matt over gloss?
Glare. Professional Matt Varnish scatters reflected light, so a painting hung under a ceiling light reads from every angle instead of mirroring the bulb back at the viewer.
Does matt varnish dull the colours?
Very slightly, and only in the darkest passages. The matting agent in Professional Matt Varnish veils the surface a shade, which is the price of losing the reflection.
Which size is better value?
The 400 ml can. At Rs. 5,815 it works out around Rs. 15 per millilitre against about Rs. 21 for the 150 ml can at Rs. 3,175, so Professional Matt Varnish is roughly a third cheaper per millilitre in the large size.
Can I put matt over a gloss varnish?
Painters often do, gloss first for depth and Professional Matt Varnish over it to take the shine off. Let the first coat dry fully before the second goes on.
How long after painting can I spray?
Acrylic within days; oil after around six months, longer for heavy impasto. Professional Matt Varnish laid over oil paint that is still soft underneath traps wet paint below the film.
Is it removable later?
Yes, the can states REMOVABLE. WITH UV PROTECTION. That is what lets a picture be cleaned years later by lifting the Professional Matt Varnish rather than by touching the paint.
What does each can weigh?
The 150 ml can is printed NET WT 108 g 3.8 oz and the 400 ml can NET WT/PESO NETO 292 g 10.3 oz. No coverage area is printed on either can, so we do not quote one.
Where should it be sprayed?
Outdoors, on a balcony or at an open window with air moving away from you. Professional Matt Varnish is a solvent aerosol, so an adult should do the spraying and the can should be kept away from heat.
Can I pay cash on delivery for Professional Matt Varnish in Pakistan?
Yes. Cash on Delivery is available across Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and many other cities.
