Gel Medium Gloss is the thick one. Search for a Mont Marte gloss medium and two very different products come back, which is why this page starts with the difference: the fluid Acrylic Medium Gloss we also stock thins the paint as it glosses it, while this gel thickens it. Both end up shiny. Only one of them keeps a ridge standing where the knife left it.

The tube says the job in one line under the purple band — Mix with acrylic to impart a gloss finish — with 75ml at the foot. Our photographs show what comes out: a clear gel squeezed onto the surface as a stiff, peaked blob that holds its shape rather than spreading into a puddle. That body is the reason painters buy it. Mixed into colour it stretches the paint further, adds transparency and shine, and lets impasto marks survive drying instead of sinking flat.

It is also the cheapest way into gloss work on this shelf. At Rs. 550 for 75 ml it is Rs. 7.33 per millilitre, and it is the smallest commitment we sell for someone who has never used a medium and is not sure whether they will like the result. Note that this tube carries the older Mont Marte livery — a purple band across a white squeeze tube with a hanging card top — rather than the Premium bottle design of the flow medium, gessos and pouring medium. Same maker, different generation of packaging, and worth knowing if you are matching a shelf of bottles.

It suits acrylic painters from about 12 years up doing textured, layered or collage work. Use it as a mixing medium stirred into colour, or on its own as a clear gel between layers.
